Emi Avora

parallel worlds
Borrowing most of her images from luxury magazines, from films and the architecture of diverse periods, Emi Avora creates bizarre compositions moving between the past and the present, conceiving meeting places for the real and the imaginary. Her paintings depict a world of abundance, maximalist and fictitious overflowing. The artist captures a phantasmagoria, a magnificence and an exaggeration overwhelming the viewer. Hotel lobbies, historic theatres, spiral staircases, ornate chandeliers and labyrinthine corridors constitute the fundamental elements structuring her works. The fabricated spaces, devoid of human presence, give the impression of an oneiric and theatrical world that triggers the viewer’s field of action of the imagination.
