Through various media - predominantly painting but also using collage, sculpture and photography, I make imagery that sits precariously between the autobiographical document and the vacuous forces of collective experience. Using secondhand discarded reference material alongside inherited imagery and the imagination, my work presents an amalgamation of detritus presented in various forms that aim to challenge and question ideas of 'memorial', the role of iconic forces such as 'home' and 'mother'; the relationship between individual and universal historical documentation and in turn its relation to works of fiction, both written and visual.

The works regularly reference specific places and/or experiences, often unrelated, based in truths and untruths. Recent projects have involved extensive historical research, this information becoming embedded and often manipulated beyond recognition. Many of my recent pieces present an alternative, virtual, timeless land that welcomes and repels the viewer in equal measure; inviting submission and belief whilst simultaneously presenting nonchalance and resistance.
