Mica I Marder was born in 1980 in Springs, New York where he currently lives and works.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Mica Marder's style is based on his practical experience and his intimate connection with the natural world. Marder captures the animals of his region in the form of still images that demonstrate the secret richness of character and range of emotion found in birds, horses and fish. He achieves an isolated intimacy with a subject, invests in his work all that he sees, and then shares this privileged vision with viewers. His work is investigatory, not in a scientific sense, but in a personal sense. He sees things that most people are unable to see, or are incapable of seeing, and translates that compassionate and humane point of view through his art, thereby demanding a large appreciation of nature and life.
