Project Statement: Fashion Accessories metaphorically conveys my interest in the intersection of popular culture, science, and commerce. In recent years, there have been several new drugs that have been released to the public which allow for various personal enhancements. I have chosen these "designer drugs" as a departure point to create a body of work that metaphorically conveys the wide array of possibilities that prescription drugs could offer the individual while questioning the use of pharmaceutical science and technology in our everyday lives. With the assistance of these drugs are we removing the experiential part of living from the individual; or is it just another accessory: a brush, a belt, a razor, and a pill?
This series represents a combination of Chemical, Alternative, and Digital Photography. The works are Light Jet Prints on Fuji Metallic Warm Color Photo Paper and each image measures 45 x45 inches.
