Rachel Wilberforce is a contemporary artist working with photography, film, video and installation. Born in Wales, United Kingdom in 1975, she lives and works in London.

Heavily researched, Wilberforce's practice investigates the construction of images and representation. The work reflects on the human condition through psychological, cultural and social constructs; playing on the tension between reality and fiction, and the public/private. An ongoing interest lies in the exploration of family dynamics and society through issues of the residual, the spectacle and the liminal. Recent work extends these concerns and draws from substantial family archives, notably, the documentary photograph and the staged image that brings together theories of the (de-)constructed image and re-staging with confabulation and the reworking of personal histories.
