Artissima is proud to announce a new special section of the Fair in 2010: Back to the Future.
The aim of Back to the Future is to rediscover and bring to the attention of professionals, collectors and the general public artists who have had little formal recognition in the last decades but whose work is particularly relevant today.
The new section, devoted to up to ten galleries, will include monographic booths presenting artists from the 60s and 70s who, for various reasons, have been overlooked so that they could be perceived by the general public and the professionals as artists rediscovered from the past. The exhibitions will have to be exclusively composed of works produced between 1960 and 1979.
The selection will be made by a Scientific Committee consisting of three curators of museum collections: Christine Macel, Curator Centre Pompidou, Paris - Jessica Morgan, Curator Contemporary Art, Tate Modern, London - Massimiliano Gioni, Director of Special Projects, New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York and Artistic Director Fondazione Nicola Trussardi, Milan. The final participants will be determined by the autonomous decision of the Scientific Committee.
Back to the Future is conceived to offer - in the Fair - a series of small shows of museum quality.
All galleries can apply to Back to the Future by proposing one or more projects for a solo show of an artist who meets with the above mentioned features.
