HERIBERT C. OTTERSBACH | WE ARE ALL ALONE AGAIN

Opening: Saturday, September 3rd, 3pm - 7pm
Exhibition: September 4th - October 30th, 2011

In presence of Dr. Norbert Riedel, Permanent Representative of the Ambassador of the German Federal Republic in Beijing, China

Ottersbach's figurative painting has a conceptual approach, but he does not see himself as a conceptual artist. His work focuses on questions such as the importance of art, the significance of painting, as well as the role of the artist in the context of society. Besides numerous public collections his work has been featured at solo exhibitions such as Kunsthalle Hamburg, Museum Villa Stuck, or Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden. In 2007, Kunsthalle Tuebingen held a retrospective. Ottersbach is now presenting his first solo show in Beijing, developed collaboratively between artist and gallerist, integrating several works that have only been on view in museums before.

CHIHARU SHIOTA @ HUB | PRESENCE OF THE PAST

Opening: Saturday, September 3rd, 3 pm - 7 pm
Exhibition: September 4th - October 30th, 2011

After her studies in Japan and GermanyCJapanese conceptual artist Chiharu Shiota (1972) taught at Kyoto Seika University as well as at California College of Arts and is currently living and working in Berlin, Germany. Shiota's works of black "webs" have been very popular and at her first exhibition in China she will present drawings, photography, and small-scale sculpture to bind a new audience into her work.

GREGOR GAIDA | POLYGONAL HORSE

Opening: Saturday, September 3rd, 3 pm - 7 pm
Exhibition: September 4th - October 30th, 2011

The polish born sculptor Gregor Gaida (1975) works like a photographer, using segments of actual images that often give his works a strangely violent aspect. The conceptual artist worked in the last few months as an artist in residence at Grey House, our studio house in Beijing. In a studio exhibition, he will be showing a work created in China, Polygonal Horse, a large-scale sculpture cast in aluminum.
