Xie Yabing - Solo Exhibition
Gallery: Art Scene Classic Dates: March 28 - April 10, 2009
Xie Yabing is one of China's most talented Chinese "gongbi" ink painters. The artist uses this traditional medium to express herself in a modern way, with smooth flowing lines and graceful elegant female subjects. Xie paints every strand of her subjects' hair meticulously. Close-ups of the women emphasize particularly beautiful and graceful parts of each of the models, and leaves the rest to our imagination. Xie endows the figures with soft, supple lips with make up and other modern clothing and fashion accessories. Xie describes each of her female subjects as: "alone with her beauty, indescribable and mysterious, wandering in this life and the next."
