Occupied Space 2008 – Art for Palestine
31 October – 15 November, 2008

THE MOSAIC ROOMS
A. M. Qattan Foundation, 226 Cromwell Road, London SW5 0SW

An exhibition of work by artists from Palestine, the Arab world, China and the UK
_______________________________________________________

This exhibition will feature over 100 paintings, drawings, photographs, prints and sculpture by artists from Palestine, Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan, China and the UK – many of whom have not exhibited in the UK before. It profiles the work of artists across the generations from all parts of historic Palestine, including two groups of young artists in the Gaza strip (the Eltiqa’ Group and Windows from Gaza). They are joined by young artists of Palestinian descent from Jordan, and senior Palestinian artists Nabil Anani, Sliman Mansour and Vera Tamari.

The exhibition also features work by a wide range of artists who have donated their works to be sold and shown alongside their Palestinian colleagues. Internationally renowned artists in the UK such as Jake & Dinos Chapman, Antony Gormley, Mona Hatoum, Maggi Hambling, John Keane and Royal Academicians Craigie Aitchison, John Hoyland and Paul Huxley have generously contributed works to the exhibition – as have well known artists from the Arab world such as Nja Mahdouai and Laila Shawa. Contemporary art from China – that has been taking the international art world by storm – is represented by a beautiful work by the young artist, Ye Hongxing.

The exhibition is organised by the UK Palestine Solidarity Campaign in association with the A.M. Qattan Foundation. All the works are for sale. Proceeds from sales will go the exhibiting artists in Palestine and towards funding PSC's campaigns in the UK to raise awareness of human rights for the Palestinian people.

THE MOSAIC ROOMS are the A.M. Qattan Foundation’s new exhibition space in west London.

The exhibition will open with a Private View on Thursday, 30 October, 6.00 – 9.00 pm
Exhibition opening hours are Monday – Friday, 11.00 – 7.00, and Saturday, 10.00 – 6.00

Artworks in the exhibition can be previewed at www.occupiedspace.org.uk
