Lower East Side Printshop, Inc.
was founded in 1968 as a non-profit community arts
center. Today, it supports contemporary artists by enabling
them to create new artwork in the printmaking medium. Its
studio facility serves as a lab for artists of all creative
backgrounds and career stages to develop new work through
experimentation and collaboration. Through public exhibitions
and educational programs, it engages a broad arts community
and the general public in contemporary art and printmaking.
Serving over 130 artists each year, the Printshop is the
largest studio residency program in New York City.
The Lower East Side Printshop's programs have been
supported by public funds from the National Endowment for the
Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the New York
City Department of Cultural Affairs. Private funders include:
