Art Cologne by Night - Die Kunstbar (the art
bar)
With a strong field of 180 international
exhibitors ART COLOGNE 2009 is set to showcase the whole
palette of 20th and 21st-century art and a comprehensive range
of the latest art-market trends. ART COLOGNE has launched a
new nightly programme in the city of Cologne, starting with a
party after the ART COLOGNE Vernissage at the "Alter
Wartesaal" on Tuesday, 21st April, 11pm - 2am.
ART COLOGNE 2009 introduces the nightly
meeting point "Alter Wartesaal"
Just in time for ART COLOGNE, the managers of the
Alter Wartesaal have launched a project in cooperation with
the Kölnischer Kunstverein (Cologne Art Association) called
"kunstbar" (the art bar) which interprets the concept of a bar
in a new and unusual way. A spot, so popular and so closely
associated with the art scene is obviously the ideal meeting
point and the "place to be" for the galleries and guests of
the 43rd ART COLOGNE.
"Alter Wartesaal" und kunstbar - only fifteen minutes
walk from the fair venue the nightly meetingpoint for
galleries, artists, curators, collectors is located between
main trainstation and the Dom Cathedral.
April 22 - 26, 8 pm - 3 am
Exhibition Opening of Christopher Wool at
Museum Ludwig
Museum Ludwig presents as part of its series of major
temporary exhibitions some 30 large-scale works - both
paintings and silkscreen prints - by Christopher Wool. In
addition, the 160-part photo series East Broadway
Breakdown (1995) will be shown. Christopher Wool is the
winner of the Hahn Prize for 2009, which is among the top
financial awards in Germany for international contemporary
art. The exhibition traces Wool's artist development in recent
years, not least his growing interest in composition and the
ways it can be conveyed in such different media as painting,
drawing, photography and the print. The main thrust of the
exhibition is directed to Wool's abstract paintings and
silkscreen prints since 2006.

lamps, work that glows in the dark, light sculpture, battery
powered video and unplugged performances. In the tradition of
the Unfair, Dark Fair seeks to reinvigorate the model of the
art fair with a new spirit. Dark Fair will also feature two
