Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Prize 2009

The fifth Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Prize is open to artists using a range of media, i.e. painting, printmaking, photography, textiles, and wall-mounted sculpture. This year the residency will be based in the Neurorehabilitation Unit at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London. The project aims to provide opportunities for patients, staff and visitors to observe and participate in the creative process of an artist and bring the enjoyment of art and artworks into the NRU. As an outcome of the project the artist will be required to produce one artwork which will improve or add to the existing Hospital environment. Award: Ģ10,000

Call for Applications for the 11th International İstanbul Biennial 2009
Deadline : January 30th, 2009

The 11th International Istanbul Biennial will take place between 12 September-8 November 2009 and takes its title, "What Keeps Mankind Alive?" from the closing song of the second act of Bertolt Brecht's The Threepenny Opera, written 80 years ago. According to WHW, the question "What Keeps Mankind Alive?" seems to be more urgent and topical than when it was first posed by Brecht in 1928. The conceptual framework of the 11th International Istanbul Biennial "What Keeps Mankind Alive?" will serve as a trigger, as well as a certain script for the exhibition, allowing us and the artists to pose questions of economic and social urgency today.

Open to all final year undergraduates and current postgraduates of Fine Art at UK colleges and those artists who graduated in the year 2008. New Contemporaries gives people still at, or just after, art school the opportunity to show their work in the context of a professional art gallery. New Contemporaries will consider work in any fine art medium, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, print-making, multi-media, performance and live work, video and moving image, computer-based and websites. Selection is based on existing work only.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art seeks applicants specializing in modern and contemporary art for a post-doctoral fellowship, funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and offered beginning June 2009. Available to outstanding scholars who wish to pursue a curatorial career in art museums, this two-year fellowship, with a possible third year renewal, will provide curatorial training while also supporting scholarly research related to the renowned collections of modern and contemporary art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Open Call for Directors Lounge Berlin 2009
The fifth Directors Lounge Berlin will take place from 5 - 15 February, at the time of the 59th Berlin International Festival, in the very heart of Berlin. Scala, the venue, centrally located in first floor at 112A of Friedrichstrasse, opened its doors exactly 101 years ago as one of Berlinīs first cinemas. Directors Lounge presents video art and experimental film from all flavours and parts of the world. Several curated programs, specials, accompanied by DJs and VJs ensure ten cosmopolitan days and nights. Once again we will offer a hideaway, a relaxed space for filmmakers, video artists and everybody interested in experimental forms of cinema and video art.
