"After the end" - Elysium
Gallery, Swansea, UK Deadline: 30th
April, 2010
Ten years ago the influential
art critic and author Arthur Danto announced that art had
ended in the sixties. For Danto, the art that emerged after
this had lost its spirit and its purpose. The past was no
longer a place from which to react against, art no longer had
to pit an agenda or conform to a certain aesthetic. The
meta-narrative was over and so was arts' significance and
influence. Elysium Gallery is looking for submissions
exploring the notion of 'After the end' Read On

SWAP MEET at The Big Chill Festival
5-8 August 2010 Deadline: 15 March,
2010
After a successful first event
at The Barbican in February, Swap Meet moves to The Big Chill
Festival. Swap Meet is inspired by the infamous mix-tape swaps
in 1980's L.A., where artists such as Dr Dre first distributed
their live mixtapes. The element of exchange and mixing of
genres forms the backbone of Swap Meet at the Big Chill.
However the theme can be interpreted more broadly for the
festival and it would be great to incorporate theatre and
dance performance, visual art, stalls, installations and an
area for circuit bending within the Swap Meet area. Read On
